Spain is set to take the global industrial stage as the official Partner Country for HANNOVER MESSE 2027, the world’s leading trade fair for manufacturing and future technologies. The announcement was formalized on 27 November 2025 in Madrid, where Jordi García Brustenga, Secretary of State for Industry at the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism, and Marco Siebert, Director of International Relations at HANNOVER MESSE, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE). The ceremony was also attended by Thomas Jarzombek, Parliamentary Secretary at Germany’s Ministry for Digital Transformation and Government Modernization, underscoring the political and economic weight of this collaboration.

Spain’s selection as Partner Country reflects not only its deep-rooted industrial ties with Germany but also its rising influence in Europe’s technological transformation. Speaking at the event, Brustenga emphasized the shared vision between the two nations: a commitment to strengthening Europe’s economic future through sustain ability, innovation, and digitalization. He highlighted Spain’s ongoing industrial evolution, driven by strategic investments, policy reforms, and the creation of cutting-edge value chains, particularly in sectors such as electromobility, green hydrogen, and renewable energy.

Dr. Jochen Köckler, Chairman of the Managing Board of Deutsche Messe AG, echoed this sentiment by describing Spain as “the ideal partner” for HANNOVER MESSE 2027. He noted that in an era defined by global uncertainty and rapid technological shifts, strong cooperation between European industrial leaders has never been more important. Spain’s expertise in advanced manufacturing, clean energy initiatives, and digital industry makes it a pivotal contributor to Europe’s industrial resilience and competitiveness.

Spain’s Ministry of Industry and Tourism has been steering an ambitious and comprehensive reindustrialization strategy, resulting in significant progress nationwide. More than €3.5 billion has already been deployed through national programs to accelerate modernization, sustainability, and industrial innovation. Nearly 900 companies, many of them SMEs, have benefited from these initiatives, enabling them to adopt new technologies, improve productivity, and strengthen supply chain capabilities. These efforts are further supported by regulatory reforms designed to enhance legal certainty and create a more investment-friendly industrial ecosystem. The newly established Spanish Law on Industry and Strategic Autonomy marks a critical step in fortifying industrial capacity and promoting efficient use of renewable energy resources.

The economic relationship between Spain and Germany continues to be one of Europe’s most significant bilateral partnerships. Spain exports a range of products to Germany including vehicles, machinery, and agricultural goods while Germany remains a key supplier of industrial equipment, chemicals, and high-value manufacturing technologies. Beyond trade, the two nations share strong connections in tourism, talent mobility, and long-term economic cooperation.

HANNOVER MESSE 2027 will offer Spain a global platform to showcase its industrial innovations, investment opportunities, and commitment to a sustainable, digital future. As part of the world’s leading industrial fair, Spain will join more than 4,000 exhibitors from sectors including electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, energy systems, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence. With the 2026 edition already set to spotlight Brazil as Partner Country, Spain’s role in 2027 promises to further elevate the fair’s global momentum.

Spain’s participation marks not just an honorary role, but a strategic milestone one that positions the country at the forefront of Europe’s industrial transformation and global competitiveness.
