Bevel Gears India Marks 50 Years with New Aerospace Facility in Bengaluru
Bengaluru, September 8, 2026: Bevel Gears India Pvt. Ltd. (BGI), a Bengaluru-based specialist in high-precision gearing, has marked its 50th year with the inauguration of a new 70,000 sq ft manufacturing facility dedicated exclusively to aerospace and defence applications.
Located near Kempegowda International Airport, the new facility is BGI’s first plant designed and built specifically around aerospace requirements. The company sees the investment as an important step in its long-term growth strategy, with a target of achieving ₹500 crore in revenue by 2029.
According to Mushtaq Jamal, Director – Engineering & Business Development, Bevel Gears India, the facility has been developed around the requirements of flight-critical gearing. It brings together dedicated manufacturing, inspection and quality infrastructure designed to support demanding tolerances, process control and complete product traceability.
The facility will manufacture a wide range of precision gearing, including spiral and straight bevel gears, zerol and angular bevels, beveloids, hypoid and high-ratio hypoid gears, curvic couplings and precision parallel-axis gearing. These products are intended for applications across aero-engines, helicopters, UAVs, actuation systems and aerospace gearboxes, supporting programmes from prototype development through serial production.
Its location within Bengaluru’s expanding aerospace corridor is another strategic advantage. The plant places BGI closer to aerospace and aircraft OEMs, MRO companies, Tier-1 suppliers and other companies operating within the region’s growing aerospace ecosystem.
The new unit is equipped with advanced gear manufacturing and inspection technology. Its machinery includes Gleason and Klingelnberg CNC bevel and hypoid gear grinding systems, including what BGI describes as India’s first Gleason 275G CNC hypoid grinder with a special straight bevel grinding option and India’s first Klingelnberg Oerlikon G80 CNC hypoid grinder.
The manufacturing infrastructure is complemented by DMG 5-axis machining centres, while a climate-controlled metrology room houses ZEISS coordinate measuring machines and Gleason gear inspection systems. Gear design and tooth-contact analysis are supported by Gleason software and SolidWorks. A 10-tonne EOT crane has also been installed to support material handling within the facility.
BGI currently operates under AS9100D-certified aerospace quality systems and holds ISO 9001:2015 certification. The company plans to add heat-treatment capabilities and pursue NADCAP accreditation for special processes as part of the facility’s next phase.
Sulaiman Jamal, Managing Director, Jamal Group, said the growth of India’s aerospace sector and increasing global sourcing from Indian manufacturers are creating opportunities for suppliers specialising in complex, flight-critical components. The new facility, he noted, will allow BGI to support customers across prototype, development and serial-production requirements, while also offering reverse engineering for legacy and obsolete components
Founded in 1976, BGI has spent five decades developing expertise in high-precision bevel and hypoid gears. The company serves aerospace, space, motorsport, mining, steel and industrial customers in international markets. Its products have also contributed to India’s space programme, including gears used aboard Pragyan, the lunar rover deployed during the Chandrayaan-3 mission.
With the new aerospace facility, BGI is positioning its next phase of growth around advanced manufacturing, aerospace supply-chain opportunities and its established expertise in precision gearing.
