The 13th edition of Young ADIPEC concluded in Abu Dhabi with its most expansive programme yet, marking a new milestone in the UAE’s efforts to equip youth with the skills, knowledge, and exposure needed to shape the future of global energy. Held from 3–6 November 2025 alongside ADIPEC 2025, the initiative recorded participation from more than 1,200 high school students and 480 university participants, representing its strongest turnout to date.

Designed to inspire and prepare young talent for careers in the rapidly evolving global energy landscape, Young ADIPEC 2025 introduced several major additions, including The Innovators Zone, a new Advisory Council, and impactful community engagement initiatives aligned with the UAE’s Year of Community. Supported by over 150 academic advisors and professors across 36 youth tracks, the programme delivered 11 interactive components that blended education, career exploration, innovation and real-world industry exposure.

Held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and supported by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), Young ADIPEC reinforced its role as a catalyst for talent development. As part of ADIPEC 2025 which welcomed a record-breaking 239,709 attendees from 172 countries students were immersed in one of the world’s most influential energy gatherings.

A key highlight was the introduction of The Innovators Zone, a dedicated platform showcasing youth-led energy technology concepts, research and prototypes. Participants from across theUAE presented their projects to industry leaders, investors and technical experts, helping bridge the gap between academic creativity and commercial opportunity.

Another major feature was the Young ADIPEC Methane Abatement Challenge. The annual competition invited students to develop practical solutions for reducing methane emissions across three categories: Fugitive Emissions, Flaring, and Venting. Winners included ADNOC Schools’ Mission Zero team, Private International English School’s Ch4sers team, and Mleih School’s AS42 team, among others, recognis ing the technical ingenuity emerging from UAE classrooms.

Thomas Löffler, Senior Vice President – ADIPEC, emphasised the programme’s growing impact: “Young ADIPEC is all about turning students into future energy professionals. It blends education with hands-on learning and real-world exposure, giving students a taste of what working in the energy sector is really like.”

The initiative also expanded its focus on community inclusion through the new Community Engagement Initiatives, designed to extend energy education to under represented groups and ensure broader access to industry learning opportunitiesbeyond traditional academic environments.

Complementing these efforts, the third annual ADIPEC Youth Council brought together emerging leaders from top universities and global energy companies, including students from the University of Oxford and Khalifa University as well as young professionals from bp, Shell and Aramco. Members contributed to discussions on energy resilience, innovation and inclusive growth, helping shape ADIPEC’s strategic agenda.

Reflecting on the experience, Sultan AlAli, Graduate Researcher at KhalifaUniversity and Youth Council member, said: “Initiatives such as the ADIPEC Youth Council give young people a platform to share their voices and shape the industry’s transition toward sustainability.”

As Young ADIPEC continues to inspire and empower future talent, anticipation builds for its return alongside ADIPEC 2026, set to take place from 2–5 November next year in Abu Dhabi.
