Taiwan reinforces its commitment to India’s manufacturing transformation with advanced smart manufacturing technologies, precision engineering, and integrated industrial solutions at AMTEX.

Taiwan reaffirmed its growing partnership with India’s manufacturing sector during the “Smart Precision Manufacturing: Taiwan Solutions for India’s Next Industrial Growth” forum, held alongside AMTEX. Addressing industry leaders, media representatives, and business delegates, Ms. CHEN Yu-Chi, Executive Director, Economic Division, Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India, highlighted Taiwan’s commitment to supporting India’s industrial modernization through smart manufacturing, automation, and precision engineering.

Welcoming the audience, Ms. Chen emphasized that Taiwan’s participation extends beyond showcasing advanced products. Instead, it reflects a long-term vision of strengthening industrial collaboration between Taiwan and India as both economies continue to expand their roles in the global manufacturing ecosystem.

Taiwan has earned worldwide recognition as a leader in machine tools and precision manufacturing, offering technologically advanced, high-quality, and cost-effective industrial solutions. As India accelerates initiatives such as Make in India and continues to develop as a global manufacturing hub for sectors including electronics, automotive, aerospace, and semiconductors, the demand for intelligent automation, advanced machinery, and precision machining continues to rise.

The growing economic relationship between the two nations reflects this momentum. Bilateral trade between Taiwan and India reached a record USD 12.5 billion last year, underscoring the increasing integration of their industrial supply chains. Taiwan has emerged as one of India’s most dependable technology and manufacturing partners, providing innovative solutions that help Indian manufacturers improve productivity, efficiency, and global competitiveness.

Machine tools remain one of the strongest pillars of this partnership. India has become Taiwan’s third-largest export market for machine tools, with exports increasing from approximately USD 93.5 million in 2022 to more than USD 144 million in 2025. During the same period, India’s share in Taiwan’s machine tool exports more than doubled, rising from 3.1 percent to 7.2 percent, demonstrating the country’s rapidly expanding manufacturing capabilities.

The momentum extends beyond machine tools. India is now Taiwan’s fourth-largest market for machinery components, with exports reaching nearly USD 108 million in 2025. From January to May 2026, exports of machinery components recorded an impressive 13.1 percent year-on-year growth, reflecting strong and sustained demand from India’s industrial sector.

At this year’s AMTEX exhibition, nearly 20 leading Taiwanese companies came together under the Taiwan  Smart Manufacturing Pavilion to present an integrated manufacturing ecosystem rather than individual products. The pavilion showcased comprehensive solutions spanning precision components, CNC machinery, industrial automation, smart factory technologies, industrial control systems, and system integration.

This collaborative approach enables Taiwanese manufacturers to offer complete end-to-end solutions for Indian industries seeking to establish new smart production facilities or modernize existing manufacturing operations. By delivering flexible, customized, and highly competitive technologies, Taiwan aims to support India’s transition toward Industry 4.0 while strengthening the resilience of regional supply chains.

Looking ahead, Taiwan sees tremendous opportunities for deeper industrial collaboration with India. As global manufacturers diversify their supply chains and invest in advanced manufacturing, the complementary strengths of both economies create a strong foundation for long-term strategic cooperation.

The forum concluded with an optimistic vision of the future, emphasizing that the “Taiwan + India” partnership has the potential to become one of the world’s most competitive manufacturing alliances. Through innovation, technology exchange, and shared industrial expertise, both nations are well positioned to drive the next phase of smart manufacturing growth and contribute significantly to the evolving global manufacturing landscape.
